Pistachio Oil Dal

Pistachio Oil Dal Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 cup split red lentils (masoor dal) or yellow lentils (moong dal)
- 2 cups water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tablespoons pistachio oil
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse the lentils and soak them in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of Kaizer Pistachio Oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the onion, garlic, and ginger and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the tomato, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and chili powder (if using) and sauté for another minute.
- Add the lentils and 2 cups of water to the saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the lentils are tender.
- Season the dal with salt to taste.
- Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of pistachio oil in a small pan over medium heat.
- Add a few curry leaves or a sprinkle of cumin seeds to the oil and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
- Pour the flavored oil over the dal and garnish with fresh cilantro.
- Serve hot with rice or roti!
