Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons Kaizer High Oleic Sunflower Oil
  • 1 cup khoya/mawa
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (cashews, almonds, pistachios, and/or walnuts)
  • 1/2 cup desiccated coconut
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • Kaizer High Oleic Sunflower Oil for deep-frying
  • Water as needed

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour and Kaizer High Oleic Sunflower Oil. Mix well.
  • Add water little by little and knead a soft dough. Cover and keep aside.
  • In a pan, add khoya/mawa and roast on low heat for 5-6 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  • Add chopped nuts, desiccated coconut, powdered sugar, and cardamom powder to the pan. Mix well and let the mixture cool.
  • Divide the dough into small balls and roll them into circles using a rolling pin.
  • Place a spoonful of the filling mixture in the center of each circle and fold the circle in half, pressing the edges to seal.
  • Use a gujiya cutter or a fork to make a decorative pattern around the sealed edge.
  • Heat Kaizer High Oleic Sunflower Oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Add gujiyas and fry until they turn golden brown.
  • Remove gujiyas from the pan and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve gujiyas warm or at room temperature.
