Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons Kaizer High Oleic Sunflower Oil
- 1 cup khoya/mawa
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (cashews, almonds, pistachios, and/or walnuts)
- 1/2 cup desiccated coconut
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- Kaizer High Oleic Sunflower Oil for deep-frying
- Water as needed
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour and Kaizer High Oleic Sunflower Oil. Mix well.
- Add water little by little and knead a soft dough. Cover and keep aside.
- In a pan, add khoya/mawa and roast on low heat for 5-6 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
- Add chopped nuts, desiccated coconut, powdered sugar, and cardamom powder to the pan. Mix well and let the mixture cool.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll them into circles using a rolling pin.
- Place a spoonful of the filling mixture in the center of each circle and fold the circle in half, pressing the edges to seal.
- Use a gujiya cutter or a fork to make a decorative pattern around the sealed edge.
- Heat Kaizer High Oleic Sunflower Oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Add gujiyas and fry until they turn golden brown.
- Remove gujiyas from the pan and drain on paper towels.
- Serve gujiyas warm or at room temperature.
